Process Design - ARIS Toolset

The Professional Tool for e-Business Engineering
The ARIS Toolset and its add-on components enable the global, enterprise-wide definition and design of business processes as well as their analysis and optimisation. In the context of e-business, with this tool you can make quick decisions about the management of e-business processes. The ARIS Toolset provides realistic simulations of resource utilisation, activity-based cost calculations (e.g. for make-or-buy decisions), as well as web-based communication of modelled and optimised company processes.

Companies in Transition

Companies must change. They have to do so in ever shorter cycles. The causes are well known: globalisation, competitive pressure, corporate mergers and trends such as e-business, e-commerce, business process optimisation and workflow, to name but a few. Many of these trends bring us to the same simple organisational questions: Who does what and in what order? Which services are provided? And which software systems should be used to provide them? The business models in ARIS Toolset provide users with a stable and proven basis for answering these questions.

Process Simulation - ARIS Simulation

ARIS Simulation is the professional tool for the dynamic analysis of business processes. Since ARIS Simulation is fully integrated in the ARIS Toolset you can use the data relating to the processes, recorded in the ARIS Toolset, as a basis for the simulation of business processes. This simulation supplies information about the executability of processes, process weak points and resource bottlenecks. Based on the simulated process key performance indicators, you can evaluate different alternatives and perform a realistic benchmarking prior to making any costly process changes within the company.

Optimised Business Processes

Against a backdrop of increasing globalisation, growing competitive pressure and new trends, companies have to customise their business processes to the changing market conditions if they want to remain competitive. With this in mind, the following fundamental questions should always be asked regarding functioning business processes. Who does what and in what order? This brings us directly to a new question: Are my organisational decisions optimally aligned? It is not enough to just describe business processes. In order to be able to better judge the dynamic interplay between different processes, ARIS Simulation provides numerous analysis options. It allows you to realistically simulate business processes, so you can evaluate different alternatives prior to implementing those processes and you can therefore choose the best solution to base organisational change decisions on.

Webbased process documentation - ARIS Web Publisher

Providing Information both Quickly and Globally
Your company may operate nationally or internationally from different locations. You will probably need to document your business processes and organisational structures using several project groups, as well as perform analyses across all sites. The results need to be distributed quickly to employees in the different project groups. ARIS Web Publisher supports you in your efforts to quickly communicate your process models globally via the Internet and/ or intranet. Its Web-based interface leads to a quick understanding and acceptance of the basic information and is extremely cost-effective. Time and distance constraints regarding the distribution of information are overcome.

Efficient Distribution of Information

Companies that work at different locations nationally and internationally must be able to communicate their business processes quickly and extensively. Since the results must be able to reach employees within a short time period, this requires global access to the process models and documentation. Likewise, changes to internal company processes must be distributed quickly.
ARIS Web Publisher makes all this possible. It allows you to distribute important developments quickly and globally to the relevant locations in the company via the Internet and intranet.

Strategic Performance Management - ARIS BSC (Balanced Score Card)

Rapid prototyping for strategic performance management

The quick and enterprise-wide implementation of a performance management system according to the principles of Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is a very worthwhile course of action for many companies, following a completed SAP R/3 implementation, for example. In this regard, ARIS BSC supports the documentation and analysis as well as the implementation and integration of all strategic objectives, critical factors, key performance indicators and measures for managing your company. Due to the transparency of cause-and-effect relationships between strategic objectives, the company strategy can be implemented and communicated uniformly throughout all company levels.

The Need for Performance Management Systems

The integration of business processes with company strategies is an essential part of managing new and quickly changing e-business sectors. Efficient management processes are required to enable the implementation of company strategies and strategic objectives, as well as their realisation in everyday business practices using operational measures. Performance management systems, such as Balanced Scorecard, enable you to define strategically significant measures and to gear the strategies created using key performance indicators.

SAP Implementation - ARIS for SAP NetWeaver

The Business Process Design Solution for SAP NetWeaver

Quality and efficiency of business processes have a significant effect on turnover and profit, and thus the long-term success of a company. Organizations that want to resist competition must develop suitable management, control and monitoring instruments, as well as a transparent model of their value-added chain that can be adjusted at any time to continuously changing conditions. For the implementation of the business strategy, a company requires flexibility in its business processes, a high level of innovation and the ability to transfer process optimizations and innovations from management concepts to the world of IT systems. Business applications only become business solutions with efficient process configuration.

Business Process Management (BPM) using ARIS and SAP NetWeaver provides the procedure models, methods, technologies and reference content with which the flexible, adaptable company becomes reality. In this way the first key step has been taken to convert the strategic development between SAP and IDS Scheer into practical customer benefits.

Activity Based Cost Analysis - ARIS PCA (Process Cost Analyzer)

Cost transparency for process planning and controlling

As competition grows relentlessly more intense, the considerations of cost control and increasing efficiency are again assuming greater significance for companies. With ARIS Process Cost Analyzer (ARIS PCA), the process transparency that is gained by modeling the organization is harnessed to the power of the key performance indicators from IT and Management. The result is a reference base for strategic decisions in the company that is shared by all those involved. Strategic decisions can be validated and optimal procedures determined using what-if analyses and scenario comparisons.

Why Process Cost Management?

The corporate motivation for implementing process cost management may be explained by the shortcomings of traditional cost management methods and changes in companies' cost structures. This is particularly true in view of the rising proportion of overheads. This in turn is mainly due to the expanding range of planning, controlling and monitoring activities in the areas of R&D, procurement and logistics, production planning, quality assurance, order processing, and sales and service. By contrast, direct labor costs have fallen. They can therefore no longer be viewed as an accurate allocation basis, as this results in allocation rates of several hundred percent on the direct labor costs. In order to be able to generate and utilise competitive advantages, knowledge of the "correct" costs is essential.

Sarbanne Oxley Auditing - ARIS SOx Audit Manager

The reliable way to implement the Sarbanes-Oxley Act

Spectacular accounting scandals and insolvencies throughout the world have increased shareholder pressure on companies to significantly improve the quality of their risk management and control systems. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOx) means that affected companies are finally being forced to take action. The implementation and monitoring of processes to guarantee an efficient control system is now mandatory. With ARIS SOx Audit Manager, companies are able to meet allthe requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and implement a high quality control system.

Sarbanne Oxley regulations apply also to all Asian companies which are listed on the US stock market.

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act

Since 2004, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act requires all companies listed on the US Stock Exchange and their subsidiaries to demonstrate the efficiency of their internal control system for the production of financial reports. In future, the Chief Executive (CEO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will bear increased personal liability for accuracy and completeness in this area. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act requires documentation, testing and monitoring of all internal controls on the risks that can influence the quality of financial reporting. Companies are therefore faced with the challenge of performing a process-oriented audit of their existing control systems for possible weaknesses and continuously improving those systems. ARIS SOx Audit Manager supports companies in this task with a specific audit workflow for continuous monitoring and optimization of their control systems. Based on documentation of your internal control system using ARIS Process Platform, ARIS SOx Audit Manager allows process-oriented monitoring of internal controls, thus guaranteeing full implementation of the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Quality Management and ISO - ARIS Quality Management Scout

A guide for your QM project

Meeting high quality standards is a key component of successful, long-term company management. In many industries there is no alternative to following strict quality standards. Quality management (QM) systems form the basis for integrated management systems and are thus an indispensable requirement for your company's success. ARIS Quality Management Scout helps you to generate process-oriented QM systems, or to match existing QM systems to meet the ISO 9001:2000 norm.

Process-oriented QM-Systems

The DIN ISO 9001:2000 calls for a process-oriented structure of QM systems. The main requirement of this standard is process-oriented implementation within your company and your QM system. This means that the interface between all departments and functions within your company must be taken into consideration. Quality, after all, is not the task of an individual department, but rather a company-wide responsibility. But this responsibility can only be met when your company processes are represented graphically and integrated within a consistent process architecture. Only with a consistent process architecture can you successfully network processes and connect elements of the structural organization. Creating a process-oriented QM system demands a powerful tool: one designed to put into your hands all the flexibility and features you'll need for success. ARIS Quality Management Scout from IDS Scheer combines ARIS, the global leader in business process management, with QM-related contents. ARIS Quality Management Scout can support and accelerate the realization of process-oriented QM systems using pre-defined content. It will also answer all key questions that arise in connection with the construction or adaptation of such a system.
